o Support vessel management,
o Maintenance objective/strategy,
o Spare parts management,
o Re-supply operation,

2nd Mate / Dynamic Positioning Operator

Frontier Drilling, a deepwater drilling contractor headquartered in Houston, TX, is focused on the global operation of dynamically positioned as well as conventionally moored drillships, semisubmersibles and floating production, storage, offloading (FPSO) vessels.

Currently, we have an opening for a 2nd Mate/ Dynamic Positioning Operator to work on the Bully II, our purpose built drillship, currently under construction and capable of ultra-deepwater DP operations worldwide, specifically designed for moored and DP arctic operations.

The 2nd Mate/Dynamic Positioning Operator (DPO) operates the automated and fixed station keeping system of the vessel and stands navigation watch as required.

Primary Job Functions:


* Ensures all navigation operations are carried out in accordance to Frontier Drilling's policies and procedures.
* Operates dynamic positioning (DP) equipment under the direction of the Chief Mate.
* Assists in maintaining rig stability and position, including draft, trim and heel, as needed.
* Assists in the setup of the DP system operational parameters.
* Assists in performing preventive maintenance on DP equipment.
* Assists with running and maintaining records for hydrophones and beacons.
* Ensures there is adequate power and reserves of power for the maintenance of position and operations.
* Ensures that all defects and anomalies are reported to the Chief Mate and relevant department heads.
* Assists in training of crewmembers in fire fighting, safety and deck operations.


Education:


* High school diploma or equivalent is required.
* Work experience and demonstrated ability of oral and written communications may be substituted in lieu of formal education.


Professional Experience:


* Must have a minimum of two years experience as a 2nd Mate/DPO on a vessel outside of the drilling industry or six months experience as 2nd Mate/DPO with another drilling contractor on a deepwater vessel or one or more years experience as 3rd Mate/ ADPO with Frontier Drilling.


Licenses, Certifications, Credentials, Training and other Requirements:


* Valid and current BOSIET certificate.
* Valid Unlimited 2nd Mate National license or equivalent.
* Valid Dynamic Positioning Operator's certificates.
* Valid medical examination and vaccination certificates.
* Valid GMDSS Radio Operator License.
* Must have advanced safety knowledge.
* Must have advanced offshore DP knowledge.
* Must have advanced navigation and stability knowledge.
* Ability to work 12 hour shifts, or perhaps longer, as circumstances dictate.
* Must be able to work without constant supervision.
* Training as required for position as per Frontier Drilling's Training Matrix and as per maritime flag state requirements.
* Must pass pre-employment screening as well as random drug tests, as applicable per local laws.
